The Berries ZA Annual Technical & Trade Symposium was held on 25 and 26 May 2023 at Ashanti Estate.
The two-day event offered even more in-person opportunities to network, reconnect with peers, keep up to date with the latest trends and research and hear industry updates and insights from thought leaders and challengers.
The symposium culminated in the Berries ZA 2023 AGM, where all members to participated in the 12-month organisational review and forward planning.

Growth Under Pressure
This year’s theme, Growth Under Pressure, seems inevitable with the broader agri-industry being placed under increasing pressure from most quarters.
We, as the Berry Industry, need to challenge ourselves to continually develop, roll out, and frequently assess plans that address our current sustainability and future growth.
These plans must be developed on every level of the value chain, from the farm gate to the consumer experience.
In the information age we are living in, accurate and reliable data is central to how we put plans into action.
As Berries ZA we facilitate and drive how we address industry challenges, from multiple academic research projects addressing farm-level challenges to logistics and market access bottlenecks impacting export opportunities and growth.
The 2023 Technical and Trade Symposium will reflect the increasing focus we have on providing you, our members, with relevant information to contribute to your own farm plan and to inform on industry actions.
Let’s release the pressure, together.
